Usually when people make a scrapbook page (in general, not just for Johnny's book), they pick a central theme to make each page about- a season, a year in someone's life, a holiday, an event, a certain thing that is significant in that person's life, etc. The possibilities of what can go into a page are endless. The problem isn't thinking of something to do for Johnny's page- it's singling out one or a couple elements to focus on.


Here are some brainstorming ideas that might help people out:

***Johnny's Keepership list: http://johnnyweirmessageboard.yuku.com/topic/363?page=-1
-If you have a keepership, you can use it as the central theme of your page (for example, all of the pages I have made for Johnny have included rhinestones)
-If you don't have a keepership, or you think your keeperships might be irrelevant to the theme you'd like to do (for example, my other keepership is the KoC costume, and I wouldn't use that for a theme this season), you can draw inspiration from another keepership. After all, it's really a growing list of all of the things angels love about Johnny.

***Writing
-My second page for Johnny's 23rd birthday had some little flair around it- a Tinkerbell sticker standing on a tiara- but the main visual element on the page was a long message I wrote for Johnny. You can talk about the last season, the hopes you have for his upcoming season, something you like about him, etc. Just a nice birthday message. -Poems- Johnny seems to like poetry, so he'd probably appreciate nice poems written about him.
-News articles- Was there an article that stood out for you this year? Print it out and use it!
-ETA- song lyrics that you think pertain to Johnny

***Johnny's Costumes
-Use fabric, construction paper, glitter, paint, etc, to make your page visually look like Johnny's costumes.
-Take one/two things you like about Johnny's costume- for example, the ND gargoyle head or the gold pattern going down the back of Johnny's costume, and recreate or give a nod of the head to those ideas as your main visual elements.
-Use the colors of Johnny's costumes- black, red, and gold for ND and purple/teal for Wings, and create a page using those colors.
-Look for themes loosely connected to Johnny's costumes- France, music, etc- and recreate those as the theme of your page.

***A Birthday Card
-It was suggested last year that you can take a birthday card you'd find in a store and glue it to a page. Very simple and yet wonderful, because there are some gorgeous cards out there.
-Think of the things that are said in a card, and it might give you an idea of what to say on your page. No plagerism, just inspiration.

***Photo Colllage
-Take your favorite Johnny photos, whether from the last year or of all time, and just cover your page with them.

-What are Johnny's interests? I've seen pages with photo collages that look like something out of a fashion magazine- Dior and Vuitton everywhere

***Johnny's Interests
- Speaking of, it's just as fun to make a page of Johnny's interests instead of just him. His favorites: http://www.figureskatersonline.com/johnnyweir/favorites.html
- For example, I rememeber there was a page a couple of years ago where a talented angel drew a Cheburashka fashion show. Create a mock magazine spread with some of his posed photos and make it look like a Dior advertisement.
-Something like to do is look at Johnny's favorite colors (currently red, black, white, and green), and use them as my colors on the page. The 22nd book page I made was black, white, and blue, and the 24th book page was red, black, and white. Johnny's always been into black and white, so maybe you could make a funky page with no color other than black and white.

***Art
-Do you have an art bug? Make your page stand out by drawing or painting instead of photos. You can just draw a simple (yeah right, simple ) photo of Johnny. I've also seen people draw comics for him, featuring him. Just a cute little short story with some cartoon images. Very sweet.

***FLAIR
-A good rule of thumb in making your page unique is to use flair. Go to an art store and get rhinestones, beads, cute metal pieces, etc. Go to a scrapbooking store- they have themed flair for you to use.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y247/boomchick21/Image4.jpg For this "happy birthday luv ur stalker" joke page I made, I used this set of little love letter- themed stickies- you can see a little pencil, an envelope sealed with wax, there is a feather pen somewhere on there, etc. And little plastic hearts. Also, notice that in that page, there's a black "netting" fabric square tilted sideways and glued (on the back) to give the background a little extra personality.
-And who says you HAVE to buy flair from a store already made? Use feathers. Make your own beadwork. Wrap fabric around your paper. Just layer your paper. Give your page texture!!

***Lettering
-For the big messages (happy birthday, good luck, etc), why just write? Scrapbook stores have plenty of letters you can buy in fun fonts or ones that look like little scrabble tiles, etc. Cut the letters out of fabric! Use glitter/beads/rhinestones!

***Personalize it!!

-Have you met Johnny? (and why is my text double spaced all of a sudden?) Do you have a picture of you and him? Use it. Mention the meeting. Use the photos and the colors and the flair that mean something to YOU, and you will be sure to make a page you love.

Remember- making your page yours is all in the details. It doesn't need to be the most expensive page the world has seen, and you don't need to be able to draw to make your page beautiful. Take your time, think, pick a theme that is calling out to you, and just run with it!!

I used little metal flair, ribbon, glitter, rhinestones, colors from Johnny's Love is War/Yuouna i Avos costumes, as well as some visual elements from the costume. The swirl design on the right side of the second page is ink, paint, red and black glass beads, metal pieces, and silver and black rhinestones.
