Thank you for the wonderful photos, Jinajina ! Johnny looks beautiful especially his expression and his pose ( as usual ). His costume for it is not my taste, but I love the photos. Oh, yeah, his poker face costume is wonderful and his make up !!! I'm dying for it especially when I imagine he wears that one with his sexy performance. Thank you for the review of the show, future walker. I feel anyone who got to see his live "poker face" with the cool costume is super lucky. I suppose he attracted more fan there. Whole the show looks so much fun! Nice to hear that Johnny and Yuna slided
on the ice together at the finale. I couldn't find the scene on you tube, but in finale, he looked very excited. And thank you for the bit of poker face clip, Brandi. It looks really cool !! I think everything in it looks perfect. |

2009 FOI Yu-Na Kim,Stephane Lambiel And All Skaters_The Phantom
If this link works, it's the entire cast skating to Phantom of the Opera, Johnny comes in halfway and is wearing his KoC costume and he is only
seen briefly in the clip. There are many FOI clips on YouTube now, you just have to be patient and watch to see which feature Johnny.

Did anyone else watch the internet feed during the Poker Face performance? It could just have been because my screen was too small, but I had a hard time
making out Johnny's choreography clearly with his black costume. The camera angles were all wrong too. They kept shooting him from the side, from the
back... when clearly all the action was happening in the front! Gah. The scene in the news video clip was infinitely better shot than the shot that they had on
TV. Or it could be that it's not so bad, and I'm just grumpy because it's 4:00 in the morning. :P
There was only a little snippet of his performance in the white costume. It was during a brief recap of the stuff they won't be able to show live. |

When we talked to Johnny earlier this month at the show in NJ, he said he wanted the makeup like Lady GaGa's when she was on Idol (w/o the zipper, of
course!).
And the costume seems to have been inspired by several of her looks. ![]() ![]()

Poker Face on YouTube...
Werelump, this may be the same version you saw on the Internet, because black costume + dark lighting+bad camera angles=annoying. But I'll take what I can get for now. |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_ho1Bf6w74 Not the best quality but it's a longer version of the closing number and features Johnny and Yu Na doing their slide across the ice.

What I truly am impressed with by this pokerface number, and also his committment to this performance, is that he is really capturing on his "sexy
quality" that he naturally has, but that we rarely see on the ice. Commentators for years have been saying if he would only "connect" with the
audience more, he would be appreciated more. Of course, I have always disagreed with those comments, as I have ALWAYS appreciated and loved Johnny's
skating, but this number must have taken a lot of personal "umph" to put out there, and I am thrilled it is being received so well!!
I also think this is a number, much like fallen angels, that if he has the chance to perform it here is the US, that people would buy tickets just to go and see him performa it live, since it is so "different" for Johnny and let's face it....who doesn't want to be a part of that! I love it!! |

OMG !!! Brilliant !!!! If this performance were the first time I saw Johnny, I may not believe that the Swan, Otonal, Ave Maria, CON, My way's Johnny is the same person. He can become completely different person in many programs. Also I think he is a wonderful dancer. I wonder when he picked up this dancing style with perfect form and
rhythm ?
My top favorite is this one and his Fallen Angels exhibition program. Johnny , you are the best !!!!

Julie....thanks for the link!
Ummm....Sunshineskate..I agree with your assessment that Johnny's "inward" type skating is very beautiful all on it's own, I've always loved it. I don't need someone to reach out to me (ala Philippe Candeloro ripping off his shirt during exhibitions), watching Johnny skate has always felt special, like a private audience. But this, this "genre" of skating, sexy and kind of mysterious is truly his niche. It's almost like Johnny's way of reaching the audience (I know it's Asia..but did you hear the screams?? I think he connected) and he's a complete natural at it. OK, just for fun: take any of our current elite male skaters and dress 'em up like Johnny and tell them to skate to Poker Face. In our minds...could any of them pull it off? Me thinks not. In fairness, perhaps Johnny couldn't do what they do (I don't think I've ever seen him fist pump) but I'll take Johnny. This is SO his thing. Love it! p.s. oh...the leg-touch thing I like very much (shouldn't I?) and there's something he does at about 2:38 that I don't like (looks weird) and I'm very happy he put in another jump. He's tweaked the whole program a bit, seems sharper, harder-edged somehow. Can't explain.

I LOVED this! I also like the way the costume picks up the lights in the rink. JMO but I think Johnny really shines as a show skater. When he doesn't have
to think about points and quads and being judged, he totally rules. He's able to be innovative and creative. I cannot see Mr Machine in Black doing Poker
Face. His gala numbers are usually bland or a watered down version of his competitive programs. He's not an artist. He's a point gatherer. Johnny needs
that freedom of expression that is not possible with CoP. There was a thread on FSU where I lurk and it was titled "When Did Johnny Lose His
Johnnyness?" or something like that. The answer is when he had to turn from being an artist to being a mathmatician. I loved the girls screaming every
time he made a move. I wish I could be there and see it live. And people don't understand how he can favor his Asian and Russian fans over the Americans.
I'm sure he doesn't, individually, but a ton of appreciation from a WHOLE NATION goes a long way.
