Before you read about how to donate, a few words: No one here is expected to donate in order to be considered an Angel or a "better" Angel, or anything of the sort. We all know that economic times are hard, and that is why Johnny and his family have agreed to accept funds from this foundation. At the same time, even small amounts will be appreciated. Skaters are forbidden to do any skating for this money. You can expect a thank you from Johnny. You should not, however, expect to form a relationship based on what you give, or any correspondence, or to have any say in how the money is specifically used. This is proper etiquette for giving of this nature.
The NEASF charges no fees, and there are no deductions of any kind. One hundred per cent of the money will go to Johnny for training expenses only. Johnny will submit the invoices for his training expenses, and the foundation will pay those bills. All of the operating expenses of the Foundation are paid by volunteers.
The NEASF is tax-exempt under 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of the United States. Donations, therefore, are usually deductible for United States citizens. Donors should consult their tax accountant or advisor as to how their contribution is to be treated.
There are two ways to contribute to this fund.
1: If you are in the United States, you can send a check or money order directly. You can also send an international postal money order payable in US dollars. The check must be written out to NEASF. You MUST send a separate letter or note (included in the same envelope with your check) indicating that your donation is for Johnny, and NOT write that directly on the check. The NEASF CANNOT accept any credit card payments or wire transfers. The NEASF cannot accept any checks written on foreign banks or in foreign funds. Send your check to:
New England Amateur Skating Foundation, c/o Missy Bennett, P.O. Box 6881, Providence, RI 02940
2: If you are not in the United States, or MUST use a credit card, I have created a paypal account to accept these donations. (Even if you are a United States citizen, I cannot provide you with documentation that this is a charitable donation, so I recommend sending your own check. I will not be listing any of these funds as charitable donations on my own taxes.) I will then transfer 100% (less the 2.9% transaction fee beginning March 1, 2009) of the funds received in this account to the NEASF by check. I will pay for the expenses of maintaining this account out of my own funds. Donations MUST BE IN UNITED STATES DOLLARS to be accepted. In the comments section, please indicate your name and country. The account is:
