Thanks for the heads-up about the article, Charlini - I cannot wait to read it. I always enjoy IFS articles. How clever of them to put Johnny on the cover!

"I really thought he would do it. He's proven how good he is. He's an awesome guy, a role model with the way he is and the way he trains."
"Of course I'd love to compete in Sochi [Russia] at the 2014 Olympics, but the demands of this sport are so hard on your body. I don't really know how long I'll last. But you never know..."

And there is a nice quote from Stephen Carriere: "I really thought he would do it. He's proven how good he is. He's an awesome guy, a role model with the way he is and the way he trains." Awwww....that's so sweet! I never really hear much about Stephen; he sure seems like a nice guy.

I really pity the poor guy, there was a good article on Goldenskate about him 10 days ago or so - and normally people comment on the article, on the skater or the skater's achievements etc. Most of the times at least 10 people comment on an article. But nobody said anything about Carriere! Perhaps Carriere should start wearing outrageous costumes and making witty comments. Or get himself a girlfriend that makes the top of the Hottest female athlete list. Or grab himself Tommy Steenberg or Adam Rippon and start a fierce rivalry with one of them. Or start flailing his arms to warhorse music. There must be something...

The news certainly has me drooling. I'll be reading over your shoulder when it comes for sure. Kinda cool too the way Johnny analagizes his first ice experience as a date.

Thanks for the quotes from Skating, Sue! I really like what Stephen said about Johnny. And it's nice to know Johnny may grace us with his brilliance even after 2010. If Yu-Na isn't up for ice dance, maybe Sasha Cohen would be. Probably not, but a fangirl can dream, lol. ~ Brandi ~

I couldn't agree more! I think I love the ones of him in the flip-flops and the beige cardigan best - his hair looks great in those, and his smile in the second one is just so adorable!

IMO, the most interesting quote in the article comes when he is talking about why he chose Galina and Viktor to coach him, and says he rejected Nikolai Morosov specifically because Morosov was coaching other elite skaters: "Nikolai (Morozov) had Daisuke Takahashi, Miki Ando and was doing tons of programs for other skaters and dance teams," Weir explained. "I knew I needed something exclusive." Clearly, he gave this interview before the Stephane Lambiel situation occurred.

LOL! Well then you definitely won't want to miss the extra photos from Johnny's photo shoot with Jay Adeff that didn't make it into the article but are posted here: http://www.ifsmagazine.com/archive/2008/AUGUST/INDEX_photoshoot3.php
