Again, so sorry for starting so many threads - I know I can't keep up with reading EVERYTHING right now, so I do hope this makes it easier for everyone to keep up without having to go searching.......
Now, for those who were surprised that I missed Johnny's practice yesterday - um, today I missed Tanith and Ben's compulsory dance in order to go to Johnny's practice!
According to Patti, what is hurting him the most right now is spins..... He didn't stay too long at practice, just to not overdo it. That's why his spins were lower level in the qualifying round - the spasm is up into his shoulder blade, and it really hurts him to twist it for some of those positions. So if you've already seen the SP today, you know that he went ahead and did many of those positions anyway! What a fighter! I was literally in tears just watching him do those, knowing that.....
Before I forget, I'm told that Johnny has our Angels map in his hotel room, propped up against the lamp on the nightstand right by his bed!
I obviously don't have time to go reading articles right now, but I'm told that last night in his press conference, Johnny told the media that he is not going to stop being himself and giving candid answers to questions, but that they are not going to misrepresent him anymore! Ha, you go boy!!!
OK, short program. I don't have time to read through the thread, so once again you all just get my unblemished impressions.....The warm-up went well; again I took pictures to keep me less nervous. Actually, any Angels who were at Nationals with me - I was in fact amazingly calm (for me, that is, LOL). Emanuel really pulled it out (YAY!) and of course got quite a response from the Canadian crowd. Johnny followed him, of course, which might have been a bit tough for him. Again, in spite of everything, the Johnny magic
was definitely there - the beauty and the grace - and of course the cute shoulder shrug after he had trouble with the final spin - I honestly think he may have gotten less than the deserved crowd reaction because it was Canada (apologies to any and all and future Canadian Angels). But as I recall it was a partial standing ovation. The ballet swan steps were in a beautiful place for me this time, I was kind of behind him and to his right....so GORGEOUS! Anyway, another relieving and happy day!
Someone asked in another thread about Pfeiffer - appears very tired, didn't appear like he was hurt today from yesterday, but that's just what I recall.
As for the marks and placements. Brian deserved everything he got, he really did well. IMHO, Oda's PCS was held down and Buttle's was held up.....Stephane appeared extremely nervous during his warm-up and during his skate. hmmm, suddenly I"m feeling a little "brain dead" LOL...will try to write more tomorrow.....If you have questions, put them in this thread so I can find them!..Just as a summary, it was a great night overall of men's skating!
Keep those candles lit, Angels!
