There's nothing new here, I'm just quoting a bit from Johnny's Journals
www.figureskatersonline.c...urnal.html
specifically his September/October 2001 entries, when he was 16 years old !

The more I read about him, from him, as in his journals and his interviews, the more I like the guy :) I hated having to wade through all these blogs (the curse and the blight of the internet IMO where any idiot with a matching opinion can get 'google prominence' without ever having a hope of being anywhere in the vicinity of a clue about anything).

Anyway I was surprised and pleased to learn that he had actually visited this wonderful sunburnt country of ours and I've picked out a few choice bits..

On a happier note, the Goodwill Games was a great experience for me. I got there on a Sunday, after an obscenely long trip [Ed: LOL, it's typically 24 hours if you're lucky]

Not everything was crisp and neat the way I like it, but I got through with the triple lutz/double toe, triple axel, and triple flip. I was pleased. The crowd was awesome. I got a huge ovation, and when my marks came up they booed. I felt so good. My mom also told me that Plushenko clapped for me, and as I was exiting the building, Alexei Mishin was humming my music. I started to feel welcome [Ed: Of course you'd be welcome :) ]

Brisbane in general was a gorgeous city. It's right on the river, so it has a fresh watery feel to it. The shopping was quite nice [Ed: Damning with faint praise, Johnny ??]

I also went to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to see koalas and kangaroos. They were so adorable. I fed the 'roos and held a koala. Adorable. While I was there a bunch of tourists recognized me, and it made me feel like a rock star! HAHA Basically, Australia was an awesome trip. [Ed: I'm pleased about that :) ]

and next month

Before I go into news about my trips, I need to tell you all that I have had a pretty bad injury since the Goodwill Games [Ed: I'm not pleased about that :( Sorry Johnny]

Thanks for your indulgence. Maybe this appeals to some other Aussie fans. Are there any out there ??
