Copyright law is complex, but just to be clear, the only video it is legal to put on youtube, or to upload to share, is home video you film yourself, unless you get specific permission in writing from the owner of the copyright of a video.

If you film something, you own the copyright. With that exception, ALL the video posted here and on fsvids, etc., is illegal. In fact, it is illegal to make copies of a tape or DVD of a broadcast and give them to someone else. The only use that is within the law is to tape or record a show to watch yourself.

Whether or not you think it's "Ok" is up to you. People generally get their knickers in a bunch about photographers and broadcast entities like IceNetwork defending their copyright, but they are completely within their legal rights to do so.

I have never heard of a broadcast entity prosecuting anyone for illegal distribution of a video, but they have gone after people for sharing music, so it may only be a matter of time. It is likely that they will focus on entertainment content, which has a much higher distribution than skating. I doubt anyone here needs to worry about prosecution, but if your video is taken down from youtube and you get a scary email, don't be surprised. Since Google bought youtube they are trying to crack down on illegal uploading.

Sorry if this upsets anyone. I enjoy watching videos as much as anyone, but you might as well know the facts!
