Here is an update in my drama of trying to learn a foreign language.
I talked to my friend Line (she just started posting here) and said she would be happy to help me. Also I came up with a long list of skaters, that if I met, I could speak to there for using the language so I dont loose it. So even though the class is way to freaking early I was thinking French it was.
Then I got an email from my brother. I had asked him for his opinion. He speaks German so I kind of figured that was his thing and didnt give German much of a though. Well his email said that of course I should take German so we can talk to each other. I think that would be so fun to talk to Kevin in German and our family having no idea what we say.
So I looked up how many people were in the classes so that it would give me more of an idea possibly of what to take. There were THREE people signed up for French and seven for German. If I signed up for French that would make 4 but still not much better then Russian, so French could very well be a no go.
If I signed up for German that would be 8 people so we would only need two more for the class to go.
I also looked up ASL thinking I might just take it to improve on what I know. It has 12 people so no worries there.
Then I looked up Spanish and there are plenty for people for that class. Spanish, as Brian pointed out in his post before, is widely used in the US and other countries so it makes since to take it. Although I wouldnt mind learning it at some point it isnt very high on my list. Also my sister speaks Spanish and that is kind of her thing. When she is talking on the phone to her friend and doesnt want people to know what they are talking about they talk in Spanish. Im not sure how she would feel about me taking it.
So that is my dilemma. I think I should just sign up for all of the languages and maybe one that I want to take will work out.
Grrr this is so frustrating. I will probably sign up for German and hope two other people sign up as well. Other then my brother though, who would I speak to? :/
