I must admit I'm beginning to be a little conflicted in my own feelings about seeing Johnny in the media every day on topics that have nothing to do with skating. In a way I'm thrilled for him. Considering how hard it is for male figure skaters to get any attention from the media (especially when they didn't bring home a gold medal!), Johnny's success is absolutely astonishing and to be admired (and envied, I'm sure). On the other hand, I worry that it could become addictive. Show biz, fashion industry, movies and TV, etc ... will his focus remain on skating? I sure hope so, or it would be tragic.

All this is just me thinking aloud. So far Johnny's skating has only grown and grown, so hopefully there's no reason for my worries. It's just that I want Johnny to be known as a great talent and successful skater who also happens to have a colorful personality, not the other way round.
