Rick,

I don't want him to have a tragic end of life like Oscar Wilde, certainly not. But Wilde did have a problem with overspending during the time when he was successful.
And since he was such an artist with words, and Johnny is an artist on ice, I thought it would be good to compare them.
These articles are negative publicity, I think. I don't think Johnny actually says anything unkind or arrogant, but people read these articles and come away believing he is spoiled, or airheaded, or both. But a person can be a genius, an artist, and brilliant, and still spend so much that it becomes their downfall.
Of course he has the right to do it. But happiness in large part depends on comparing what you have to what you are used to having. For his own sake, I wish he weren't spending so much now. It's like burning the candle at both ends. There's the poem by Edna St. Vincent Millay, which goes,
"My candle burns at both ends; it will not last the night; But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends--
it gives a lovely light!"

And on the positive side, Johnny will more than likely deal with the changes fine as time passes. You only get to be twenty-one once.
