IMO, tempest in a teapot regarding the jacket. What's to get worked all up over?

Johnny is so great to share interesting tidbits about his life -- he doesn't have to answer our questions, but not only does he take the time to do so, he's very honest and revealing, and funny. We are able to gain a real insight into some of the things happening in his life, as well as his ideas and opinions, likes and dislikes. You know, Johnny didn't have to mention anything about the photo shoot, yet he did because he wanted to share something with us about the fun he had doing it.

Again, Rick, if your interpretation is that Johnny had the jacket flown in himself, I think you're wrong (okay, I see from your latest post, you realize he didn't "requisition" it.) Still, you don't sound as if you are that familiar with high fashion photo shoots. I don't think its fair to be so judgmental, much less to make impolite and uninformed comments about Johnny's and his family's personal finances. It's possible that the jacket was flown in on loan for the shoot and then returned -- just because the value of it is $30,000 doesn't mean either Johnny or the magazine actually purchased it. The fact that the jacket is planned to be featured in the magazine is likely publicity or promotion for the designer -- similar to stars on the red carpet wearing expensive jewelry and designer outfits that are loaned for the occasion.

It is obviously not necessary to agree with Johnny's opinions, choices, etc., in order to also admire him. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and debate is fine, but in this case IMO getting all worked up over an expensive jacket Johnny mentions he wore for a photo shoot seems a bit like jealousy. It's my impression Johnny mentioned it as if he himself was in awe and because he had a blast wearing it, not as if he was bragging or anything like that.

Wow, Johnny's Q&As are always so interesting and people often find a lot to get excited about.

You are right, a grace note, I wasn't fretting in regard to Johnny's answer to La Tisha's question. The question and his response just got me thinking about the whole issue of stardom, living life in a fishbowl, and the way the sport of figure skating is perceived in this country -- kind of tangential issues to Johnny's response. I wasn't disagreeing with him, just making some random observations, which are probably best suited to a conversation or a full blown essay rather than a rambling post.

BTW, Johnny also mentions in the Q&A that he is planning to curtail some of his shopping in order to start saving money to buy a house. Again this is something he doesn't have to share with us. I love that he cares enough to give back so much time and interesting tidbits about his life to his fans. I can also appreciate the fact that he is 21, soon to be 22 years old, and that he's worked hard to excel at a difficult sport and he deserves to have fun shopping or doing whatever he wants with the money he makes. He's obviously maturing and learning about how to manage his money for long term goals. More power and success to you, Johnny! :angel5
