I'm keeping an eye on Johnny's tweeter to see if he updates and says anything about skating in today's show.

Just saw Johnny's tweet regarding the quarantine. He said he has "a healthy temperature of 36.8".
Good thing A (H1N1) in Japan is not as virulent as it was in other countries (not like it's virulent in the first place) but I still hope that everyone's healthy and that no one's in the high risk classification. Nasty nasty flue virus.
Trust love even if it brings sorrow. Do not close up your heart. Ah no my
friend, your words are dark, I can not understand. The heart is only for giving away with fear and a song, my love. Ah no my friend, your words are dark, I can
not understand them. Pleasure is frail like a dewdrop; while it laughs it dies. But sorrow is strong and abiding. Let sorrowful love wake in your
eyes. --Rabindratha Tagore poem #27

I met Johnny on Sunday evening at the hotel. He looked perfectly well (sorry no photo) and he said he is healthy. Most of his face was covered with a white
mask, something like a surgical mask. Eight skaters, Not including Johnny, who were said to have had close contact with the infected Russian skaters &
staff were abide by the rules of the Health Office of Kanazawa City, and were advised to stay in their room/hotel, and to wear a mask when they go out of the
room.I guess Jonny wore a mask just incase. It was too bad that we could not see his face on the second day.
Lucky thing for the Japanese fans was that all 4 shows were held, second day without the skaters with illness. Since they are the first swine flu patient in Kanzawa City and Ishikawa Prefecture, I guess the skaters caught the virus in the plane or airport, or came with the virus from the place they came from. In any case, the local news paper said illness is nothing serious and they are resting in the hotel. For those who were worried about Victor, no need to worry! He was in the show on the 28th, had an entertaining performance with Mrs. Petrenko, a plush Mrs. Petrenko. It was so funny! Johnny's new show program was just lovely. It was Johnny's style, with French song sang by a live singer. I didn't know his costume was the black version of Otonal, but it sure was BEAUTIFUL! (photos and videos were prohibited, sorry guys) It had beautiful blue and silver sparkly fabric top, which had an image somewhat close to Otonal but more classy, and black velvet bottom. I only watched the first and the last show amongst the four shows, and thought Johnny's jumps were better in the last show. It could be the condition of the ice that affected, seemed less hard, and he may got used of the condition as he skated. I'm not sure. The show will be broadcasted on a local TV channel. Since I don't live in the area, if I can find someone living in the area, I may be able to share it with everyone. Let's see what happens. I guess the flu's maximum incubation period is around 7 days. So if he is well untill this Friday, it means he wasn't infected. Let's cross our fingers!

Thank you so much for your wonderful review, Meg ! I'm so glad to hear you got to meet him again , lucky you ! And very nice to hear he looked very healthy. And also even though the fan meeting was canceled, it was fortunate all the shows were held as planned and I'm glad all the Japanese angels who were there were able to see his performances. His costume for his new number sounds beautiful ! How was his Poker Face ? |

The shows were successful. The capacity of the venue was 5,000 people and about 4,000 people came to each show. It seemed that the audience really enjoyed the
shows. The general figure skating fans gave good reviews, too. They say the composition of the shows were well-balanced. There were elegant programs, comical
ones, acrobats, aerial, and so on. It's a shame that the acrobats and the aerial program were canceled on the second day because of the flue.
At the opening Johnny wore the black and purple costume from the Christmas show last year. After three young Japanese skaters skated, two acrobat guys skated in Blues Brothers like black suits. Then Victor skated to Fly Me to the Moon. Very chic. Rena and John made us feel very romantic. Surya skated to Aretha Franklin's Think and did THE back flip. And here came Johnny! L'Hymne à l'amour. He was absolutely beautiful! As Yuki and Meg said, this is the type of program he does really well. Elegant and fluid. The costume was otonal, I think, dark one. Shizuka skated to It's a Beautiful Day. Stephane's new program was a French song which means Don't Go. As the last program of the first part, they skated to the tunes from 50's. Johnny wore a white T-shirt, a leather jacket, and straight blue jeans. He sometimes, well, you know, just followed Stephane The last part started with Takeshi Honda followed by Cathy and Chris Reed. Then Victor skated to Mambo No.5 with so-called Mrs. Petrenko. That was hilarious. Everyone laughed. Surya skated to Memory and the acrobat guys did funny stuff. Kids loved it. Then again Rena and John made us feel romantic. The Russian couple's aerial was amazing. An old lady sitting behind me was actually crying. And it was Johnny time again! Poker Face! The costume was the same one in Festa on Ice. I had been really looking forward to seeing it, and got very excited! So excited that I can't remember the detail! Adrenaline and dopamine totally kicked. It was gorgeous, that I can remember. When he passed my side I called "Johnny!" I thought he smirked, but I might just have had an illusion. After that Miki Ando skated to Requiem by Mozart. Stephane, Tango. Shizuka, Yu-gao. All of them were beautiful. The finale was We're All in This Together from High School Musical. They all wore white costumes. Johnny was in the white one from FOI. Someone on the net said he was more beautiful than any other female skater at the finale. Actually, in the program leaflet, they introduced Johnny as 'A God of Beauty.' I'm sorry there are no photos. As you know, the rules in Japan are very strict. No photos. No recording. No throwing flowers. No high-fives at the finale (This was reasonable this time). No. No. No. But the shows were really good. They did a good job with the sound and the lighting. |

Thanks mochan. It sounds like it was a very nice paced show with something for everyone to appreciate. Too bad about the photo rules but at least we have your
review to make us imagine. I liked that "god of beauty" intro. That little boy is going to get a swelled head from all his recent accolades. lol

About Poker Face. First I want to say most of Japanese Johnny's fans are crazy about his Poker Face. And a lot of general figure skating fans in Japan say
this program is cool and suits Johnny.
But first time I heard he was going to do Poker Face in Kanazawa, I sent a message to him through his official site and said the audience might not be as enthusiastic as it was in Korea because the demographic of the audience might be different, but your fans would scream more than usual because we love Poker Face. Kanazawa is a famous, beautiful city with history, but not as big and accessible as Tokyo or Yokohama. It was kind of a rare occasion to see great skaters there. A lot of local people in all generation who casually watch figure skating went to the shows. I saw a lot of families and older people in the venue. That's really good. That was the point they had these shows there. And Poker Face was a little bit… too edgy for them, I guess. I think Johnny was a little discouraged at the first show. He skipped the last bum shaking. Poor Johnny. I felt sorry for him. But the fans were fanatic. We screamed as loud as possible. The local people gave, what, double take? to us. I mean, to me. HAHAHA. The more his fans showed up at the second, third, and fourth shows, the better his performance got, I think. Johnny, Poker Face is a great program. Don't be discouraged. Keep on shaking your bum! Sorry about my poor English. These were my first post here. |

Those were some great reviews!
Your impressions made it so much easier to imagine how those shows
took place and what went on. Of course, many thanks for the airport pics, Meg! Yay for the avatar! "Hymne à l'amour" sounds like a very beautiful exhibition program. I wish there's a way we can see it sooner or later! Adding my WELCOME to mochan! Enjoy your time as an Angel!

I did research after that. I checked bunch of blogs which were referring to Ice Jewelry.
Johnny's fans on the net are so excited and acclaims him. No surprise! Other figure skating fans say about Johnny "he was beautiful just standing there", "he had an enormous aura." About Poker Face, they say "that was kakko-ii (which means cool)!", "I saw a new side of Johnny!" One non-Johnny fan liked Poker Face so much, that she bought the next day's ticket to see it again. She says "That program is addictive." There are a few blogs of non-figure skating fans, but I only found general impressions of the shows (I wanted to read their reviews about Johnny very much though). I could not find any bad reviews, anyway. Instead I found a cute story. There was one very little girl. She was kind of restless. But when Poker Face started, she looked very surprised and got very still. She fixed her big eyes on Johnny throughout the performance. When it is finished, she gave a big clapping! I think Johnny has got a new little fan. As someone said before, there are almost no photos or videos of the shows on the net. At one point during the shows, some guards suddenly appeared and glared at the audience. I thought somebody had rushed to the rink and tried to touch skaters or something. But the announce said that a few people had taken photos, and if we try next, they would delete the data. They were ruthless! If they didn't allow us take pictures, they should have taken more official photos and release them. I don't understand why they don't show the success of the shows! |

Thanks Mochan. I don't understand about the photos either. I guess they have their reasons. That story about the little girl was so cute. Also the one
about the girl who had to see Poker Face twice. She's obviously a girl of taste and refinement.
