As much as I wish I could had gone, I was not able to attend Johnny's premeire - family obligations. I do not know which Angels did attend but I look
forward to reading their reports when they post them. I will also be checking the newspaper tomorrow to see if the premeire made the news.

Johnny's wearing his Korean-fashion jacket....he looks cute. I'm really, really happy for him. This is such a great way for him to arrive in COS ....on
a high. I remember last years champs camp, when he gave that weird interview (he just seemed unhappy and out-of-place) and I wondered what was going on.
I can't wait to see the video!

Very nice! I'll say it again: Johnny is funny. I liked the part when the siren was heard and Johnny was like, "Hellooo."

My story of PopStar on Ice premiere in NYC | ||
|
I went to the premiere in New York and it was great!
When we picked up our tickets at a building across from the theatre, we had a chance to talk to the film makers, James and David. We congratulated them on
creating such a wonderful film that is getting rave reviews everywhere. They thanked US for coming to it.
We got to the theatre early to see Johnny arrive in a Bentley. The first car to pull up had his mom Patti, aunt Diane, and friend Paris Childers. Then Johnny arrived with his agent, Tara, and a reporter from NBC. I was standing just a few feet from the curb and when Johnny walked forward (right after I took the picture of him with Tara) - he stopped and gave me a hug before entering the theatre lobby for a photo shoot with lots of media photographers. Pictures from POI in NYC You'll see much better photos posted elsewhere because I was standing to the side and could not get a direct shot. It was so exciting to be there, and to talk to Johnny and his family. Johnny truly looked like a Pop Star - just gorgeous, and beaming. What a happy occasion this was. As you've all heard from others, the film is just awesome and I can't wait to own it myself. David told me it will be out on DVD in the fall, after it airs on the Sundance channel I think. What is in the film is pure Johnny - being himself as always, but training hard and clowning around like most of us never see. Parts of his programs are shown but that is really not what this film is about - it is not a collection of his competitive programs. It is about Johnny's struggles with adhering to the training regimen and restrictions required by the sport, his need to freely express himself and the challenges created by those two opposing forces. Johnny narrates it throughout so you get to listen to him talk about events described or shown. The film does not show him shopping, or at Starbucks, or going out to dinner in NYC or partying with friends, it stays focused on his skating. But it does show reactions from his many fans all over the world including several shots of our Johnny's Angels banner. So angels, we must keep up the good work, because there is more competing ahead and more filming to be done. David and James will continue to follow Johnny through next spring. We went to the party after the film but it was too dark inside for any pictures to come out - IceNetwork, LifeSkate and NBC may post some photos from it though. What a wonderful night - I'm so glad I could be there. GO JOHNNY !! |

Thanks, mattysmom, for your report - the more I read about this film, the more desperately I want to see it! So glad the Angels banner made it in!

ditto what Pippa said, I'm so glad to hear that there is no shopping or Starbucks in the dvd and that it focuses on how hard it is to train as an elite
skater. So many non-believers put Johnny down for his so-called shopping sprees, hopefully this film will set them straight that Johnny does spend more
time in the rink then in the mall.

I am so looking forward to seeing this film when it comes to LA in July. The more I hear about it, the better it sounds. I have a couple of non-skating friends
going with me and I have no doubt that they will love it. I told them it would educate them on who to watch in Vancouver. We may even pick up a few new angels.
What I really am happy to hear is that it takes Johnny seriously as a person and as an athlete rather than following the mainstream media in exploiting the shopping sprees etc. That's all fun and we know Johnny enjoys it (heck, so do I) but that's just one facet and one that has been overdone with the result of diminishing the serious, hard work that fills most of his time, especially this year. Thanks MattysMom for a perceptive report. |

" I want to be pretty !" So cute Johnny ! Thank you for the link for the video premiere interview, Pippa. Also thank you for your interesting review, Mattymom ! So cool he arrived with Bentley which is his favorite car (?) It's nice he stopped to hug you before enter the lobby. Sweet as usual no matter the occasion. Paris looked nervous to me but he was funny. Johnny looked no problem for public speech. |

Thanks for sharing your impressions, Sue!
So great to get some first-hand review from an Angel who has been there! I enjoyed your pictures a lot,
particularly because you have taken them from a different angle. Johnny looked no problem for public speech.I agree, you can clearly see that Johnny has already had so much media experience in his career. That pays off! Janina.
