Boy I see two golds for Evan! I'm glad Johnny got the two he wanted.

Looks like Johnny also has some stiff competition: Chan, Kozuka, and Plushenko in Russia; and Joubert, Kozuka, and Takahashi (pending the return of his jumps)
in Japan. Evan, meanwhile, looks pretty much like a shoe-in to win his GPs (I know, I know, the ice is slippery...). If Johnny can beat his competitors, that
should give him a big confidence boost. But I also don't want him to peak too soon this season of all seasons. Case in point: Jeremy Abbott. Another case
in point: Evan, who didn't even make the GPF, and then peaked when it mattered most.

I was really hoping that Johnny would get Skate America or Skate
Canada....Well, at least he got the assignments he wanted.

Well, since those are the assignments Johnny wanted, I'm glad for him. But he will sure have some killer competition!
I am most surprised that Jeremy Abbott didn't get an invite to Skate America along with Evan. I thought the US champ always got an automatic invite to SA. But Evan sure does have easier fields than his American teammates. Still, everyone expected him to win Skate Canada this year after Buttle and Lambiel both dropped out, and he only won bronze, so you never know. But both Chan and Plushenko for Johnny at Cup of Russia, and then Joubert, Takahashi and Kozuka at NHK Trophy?! I sure hope he stays healthy! I have a question, though - ISU's chart makes it look like Cup of China is between CoR and NHK, but when I looked it up on Wikipedia, it said NHK Trophy is the weekend after CoR. Does anyone know? It would certainly help Johnny if he didn't have to head straight from Russia to Japan. ETA: Never mind - I just looked it up again and realized I was looking at LAST season's competitions on Wikipedia - this coming season, Cup of China is indeed between CoR and NHK, so at least Johnny will have time to adjust to the time change between his competitions. I'm happy for Johnny and I don't care that he's got stiff competition---he needs it. But I am sad for the Angels who want to see Johnny and
can't! He hasn't been to Russia in awhile...but he's skated in Asia alot lately. I suppose I now don't have to worry about going to a Grand
Prix....no way will I be able to get to Russia or Japan! I was so hoping for Skate Canada...because it's easy to get to and not too expensive. Oh well.
It's impossible to predict what will happen at the Grand Prix, especially this year. I just hope Johnny stays healthy, motivated and gets a fire-y competitive attitude. He needs to get out there and well, you know!

I'm so excited to hear the assignments ! Yay for Russian & Japanese fans , too. Both of the events looks unpredictable, for COR, I haven't seen Plushenko's skating for a long time, so how his present condition is after he away from competition. Competing in his country must be pressure for him, seeing his past competitions in Russia. But anyway Plushenko is a strong competitor, he surely will be a tough competitor for Johnny in COR. Chan, Kozuka, Mroz are also unpredictable. In NHK, it can be more tough for Johnny, I see besides Johnny, Joubert, Takahashi, Kozuka, Abbott, Rippon are all medal contenders. But Joubert often didn't get good results when he skated in Asia in the past, and also I'm wondering how Takahashi's present condition is, seems like he just started to jump training, ( single ) recently, he will be back to form or not ? He is also unpredictable. I'm also guessing Rippon may do good job since he started working with Brian Orser next season. I'm glad Johnny got what he wanted, but on the other hand, it's endless to worry if I start think
about it but one biggest thing I worry is if he gets even more nervous when he has a lot of his fans in arena, losing focus, as much as he loves to get a lot
of support.

I'm happy for Johnny too and I'm glad for him! but I will go to Paris and I had hope to see him there
He will have hard rivals, but it will be good for his mind, believe more in himself and to be strong at the Olympic Games The ladies competition in Paris will be killer! and I'm very happy because Javier Fernández from Spain will go to Eric Bompard too |

It's very selfishly to rejoice when other people are in frustration because they cannot see Johnny on GP events. I understand their emotions because I felt
the same last year. I'll be very glad to see Johnny in Moscow
But other men of
Rostelecom Сup it's scary nightmare! I don't see almost nobody who can give me the pleasure to watch, except Johnny of course.

YAY for Johnny and too bad for our American Angels
Although Moscow could be possibility for me, but I don't think that I will travel so far away for just a few days. Paris would be cool, too

Hi everyone
I have mixed feelings about the GP events, but on the whole, I'm excited. I'm beyond thrilled that Johnny got Russia and Japan. Since those are his favorite countries to compete in, I'm hoping it will give him a confidence boost heading into the major events of the season. I'm less thrilled that his fields are so difficult, and Evan's are seemingly easier, but I know that Johnny CAN do it if his head is in the right place, and doing well in those fields will definitely be a boost for him. Count me among the Angels who are sad he's not going to SA, since I am, but I'm happy that the Russian/Japanese Angels will get to see him ^_^ Since he doesn't like competing in Canada, I'm wondering whether building up confidence in places that he does like will help him come Vancouver, or whether it would have been better for him to do Skate Canada and have a "test run". One thing that interested me is the USFSA's choice of who to send to Skate Canada. Jeremy Abbott and Stephen Carriere. I assume that SC will be held in the Olympic venue, so skating there before the Olympics could be a psychological advantage for skaters. I'm surprised that they wouldn't send Evan...

queenofhearts wrote:Evan couldn't do Skate Canada, because Patrick Chan is doing it. The top three finishers at Worlds are spread out among the six Grand Prix events the next season, with two each - they can't overlap. Since Evan, Patrick and Brian Joubert finished top three at Worlds, they all have to have different GP events. Pippa

As most of you, I am also pleased that Johnny got the events he wanted, but it is a really tough competition.
I also hoped for France, and will probably go nonetheless (tickets aren't on sale yet,or are they?). But maybe I should invest in a holiday in Russia, if only I wasn't scared of going there... (because I can't speak the language despite being more or less able to read the words, as I tried for six months to learn Russian but gave up as there werent enough people in the course anymore).
