I went to the Moran Memorial last Friday-Saturday at the Ice House in Hackensack, NJ. I wanted to be there because
it was Adam Rippon's first competition at the senior level and I was anxious to see his new programs - which are beautiful! He did not have his new
costumes yet so nothing to report on that. His music is wonderful and shows off his artistry on the ice:
SP- "Air on a G String" by Bach and "Storm" by Vanessa May
FS- "Send in the Clowns" by Stephen Sondheim and "I, Pagliacci" by Ruggero Leoncavallo
I was also able to see performances by Nobunari Oda (who has grown 3 inches taller in the last 2 years!) and Fumie Siguri (her FS is to "Otonal" and all I could see in my mind's eye was Johnny's incredible program).
I spotted Miki Ando and Oksana Baiul in the arena. They were there to be in the "Home of Champions" ice show on Sunday but I could not stay for it.
It was interesting to go to a smaller competition where most of the skaters were tiny tots. And it was a special treat to see Adam's programs. He said he is really looking forward to Skate America and Cup of Russia.

p.s. since I was nearby, I drove over to the Vault in Wayne, NJ but neither Johnny nor Stephane was there, rats! Then I got lost on the way back to my hotel but it wouldn't be an adventure otherwise, lol.
